How do I stop a program auto-opening when I turn the computer on with Windows ME?

My dad familiar to use this really old Dell for work. It has Windows ME and yes, it surprisingly still works and he still uses it on opening. The only thing that's annoying is that a program opens right away when you spin on the computer (it's old so that makes it all slow). Me and my dad can't figure out where to go to stop that. Anyone know how?

click start
Click run
In the run box standard msconfig
Click on the startup tab
Remove the checkmark next to any programs you don't need to run at startup
Click ok and reboot.

When I open computer is auto open many page of explorers?

As I asked for mitigate with a virus problem that make my computer to auto creat the password for My Microsoft obligation. I'm not sure that is virus or what?
1-Now It's make my computer stupid, when I turn on computer it auto bring out explorers (Start Menu) many many.
2-I also can't open the regedit when this point is happen.
Please help me!!

Try break windows in SAFE mode and start your virus checker.
