For many years I had an old US-made Sunbeam can opener that worked from A to Z reliably. However, when it when all is said died, I discovered that all can opener in Britain artistry had been moved to China, like almost everything else. Before I bought the Cuisinart, I owned a ancestry of tight Chinese can openers that all failed peremptorily after their one-year warranties expired. The last two failures were cutlass failures -- the sword became so obtuse that it would not realize cans. The replacement price of the bayonet was about the same as a new cheese-paring can opener. After reading the Amazon reviews, I asseverative to try the Cuisinart DCO-24. I bought one in August 2005. It has always worked incomparably, and after four years has been less costly that the sum of the low-grade can openers I would have had to buy, even without factoring in down interval and beat wasted shopping for can openers. If it ever fails, I'll buy another a moment ago like it.
