Can leaving rechargeable batteries in the charger too long fry them?
I have a lot of energixer rechargeable batteries and they no longer inhibit charge very well. I have had some of them for about a year and some for longer than that. I bought a new charger that says it has auto closed up off but I havn't opened it yet because I'm not sure if that is the problem or not.
Most latest battery chargers will shut off when the batteries are fully charged, preventing any harm to them. The new charger you bought should wirk neutral fine.
Here's a quick and easy test to see if your batteries stress replacing: Put them in the charger for several hours, then touch them lightly to see how angry they are. A good rechargeable battery will get quite warm to the touch while charging, but will not get hot. If the battery is compartment temperature, it will not hold a charge, and needs to be replaced. Also, if it is too hot to blow, it is bad. Toss this battery out, and be sure not to use it together with good batteries.
Again, if the battery is satisfyingly and warm but not hot, it is good, and should provide many more good charge cycles.
