A home repair question: I need an ignitor switch for a KitchenAid gas cooktop. It's model KGCS1340?
Jun 14, 2008 by steve | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I'm also looking for knobs for this entity which is about 20 years old (not that old for a gas cooktop IMHO).
Various appliance parts web sites say parts are no longer ready.
We've already attempted professional repair. I looked up recommended services outlets on the KitchenAid site and had a tech come out. He looked up the representation and said sorry parts are NLA, and left, having the power illogical internally and us having to start it with matches. (I've since temporarily wire-nutted around the dull switch position.)
So...a hundred bucks was wasted calling in a pro.
I'm hoping however that the thrash was not unique to this model and is and might be available as a part for some other model or brand and no one bothered to
manufacture a cross reference. Or maybe replace the valve / redirect entirely.
I prodigy if it was made by whirlpool? this site has your model number but says swirl? maybe you could try whirlpool tech help? http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/p dfs/belles-lettres/Repair%20Part%20List%20-% 204177278.pdf

Ignition Problem - 4 Cooktop Gas Burner?
Mar 02, 2007 by Ron | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My confidante has a KitchenAid 4 Cooktop Gas Burner. It is similar to this one: http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1363/ cooktophf2.jpgPrimarilyMy friend left a heavy pan on one (or all, I'm not sure) of the gas switches which then left-wing the ignition clicking all night. Now the ignition won't even click for ANY of the burners. The gas still flows out and you can encounter all of them with a match, but when you try pushing down on the switches, they won't light.
What part would I be looking to supplant, and it is difficult to replace or should I just leave it up to a professional?
First you fundamental to get the model and serial number. The location varies on cooktops. I imagine that the Kitchen Aid's Mod and Ser nums are on the bottom of the unit. Open the cabinet and move out the drawers and look up towards the unit. It will be a white sticker that says exemplar number, serial number and patents etc. The part you are looking for could be one of two things. Part 1 and the more conceivable one is a spark module ($25-$75) or it could be the infinite switches ($10-$50). Pricing is ballpark guesstimation. Both are absolutely simple to replace yourself if you have basic working knowledge of tension. You can look up what parts you need of you go to www.marcone.com or www.repairclinic.com
