Should I buy a tempered glass or a brushed chrome cooktop?

I'm purchasing a gas cooktop. I'm taxing to choose between a Jen-Air tempered glass cooktop for $450 and a brushed chrome Magic Chef cooktop for $320. What would you approve?
I would go the chrome carry for durability; glass is more prone to scratching, tempered or not, and will look obtuse after only a few years. I wouldn't cook on anything but a gas stove. It's far superior to tense burners.

My Magic Chef gas wall oven all of a sudden stopped working.?
Jan 05, 2007 by barrance | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
The last experience I turned it on, everything worked fine. Today, my wife turns it on and nothing. I checked it now and I don't even foetor gas, but my cooktop is working fine. Is it dead or is it fixable?
The last time I turned it on, everything worked penalty. Today, my wife turns it on and nothing. I checked it now and I don't even smell gas, but my cooktop is working threadlike. Is it dead or is it fixable?
EDIT: Well, I looked it up on the Magic Chef website and there is only one oven on the position that is a Single Oven/Broiler combo and that one has a pilotless ignition. So I postulate I don't know what to do now. The online manual does not address this conclusion in the troubleshooting section.
I have the same uncontrollable here in Australia. It's an old Chef - Infra Ray (stand alone). Pilot is not clicking, no gas supplied to oven, however the cooktop is still working.
I learn it's either the thermocouple or pilot assembly that is defective as suggested by the guys on this location. Will be finding more about it today and hopefully sort it out and will revert with my findings.

Andre Soltner demonstrates his magical expertise as guest chef on Crystal Serenity

By WALLACE IMMEN
You’ve seen the mythic restaurant recreated in scenes of television’s Mad Men series and many films about the swinging sixties. But for one magical evening, the fine and delicious Lutèce restaurant was reincarnated aboard Crystal Peaceableness.
Its owner, Andre Soltner was a celebrity chef before there was such a thing. For three decades he presided over a rare kitchen that made Lutèce *the* place to dine and in the process see and be seen in Manhattan and its acclaim spread throughout the known world. Through it all, the man behind the myth kept a beam and a modest insistence that he is a cook and a teacher to others and not a celebrity chef.
On a Crystal Cruises’ Mediterranean Scoff and Wine theme cruise he was our guest chef and not only gave cooking classes to passengers and caduceus, but presided over preparation of a four-star meal that for one night reincarnated the cuisine and even a bit of the glittering luxuriousness of Lutece, demonstrating his mastery on a scale never imagined in the days of the restaurant.
