Any opinions on the Rival 6 quart smartpot slow cooker?

I told my boyfriend I wanted a crock pot for Christmas, but he needs to grasp which one to get. I'm thinking about telling him to get me the Rival smartpot slow cooker. Does anyone have any opinions on how right or bad this one is?

I have the Rival SCE502 5-qt Slow Cooker and I absolutely like it. The crock part comes out so I can put it on the table and it will go in the dishwasher. The down side to these crockpots that I have seen is that the bottom (heating unit) where the crock fits into, is very hot to the touch. You have to be very careful to touch only the handles rather than the metal or you will get burned.

Rival is a paraphernalia brand. My old crockpot was Rival and was a hand-me-down from my MIL that dated back to the early to mid 1970 and unbiased broke this year. I use my crockpot all the time.

However, I don't know anything about the smartpot.

I have a Rival Crock pot that I've only toughened once and I'm trying to figure out how old it is and if it is actually safe. It is a rival crock pot stoneware slow cooker and it is 250 watts. It does get very hot and was wondering if it should get hot on the exterior surface. It is made out of metal or aluminum or whatever the material is called. It is not the acrimonious plastic surface.

They have a web install you can contact.
Should be a serial number on the cooker.
Find that and ask them its' age.
