How do I fix my dishwasher door?

I have a dishwasher that is about three years old.

The door latch is starting to be unsuccessful. When you push up on the latch to open it, it's getting harder and harder to get it to turn loose.

The dishwasher is an Amana, SofSound I.

Points and alot of appreciation to the first one who can identify me how to fix it. Please also provide a link to any information, especially if its a complicated fix.

I a moment ago tried to open it and now the outside handle seems to have come lock disconnected -- its moving around loose within the door!

You can try adjusting the latch distance for the door
there may be an regulating on the latch catch on the dishwasher that you could move closer to the door

on the door itself
if you open the door and drop it down you should see about 5 screws around the top the and top of the sides
murder these screws and the top of your door should drop(be gentle)
you should then be able to see your latch
you can counterfoil if it needs lubed or if its out of adjustment, possibly closer to the fetch
reassemble and try it out

In my dishwasher there is a basket that holds the forks, spoons, etc. well when I swell the bottom tray out it would scratch the inside of the door. Is there anything I can do to get theses scratches out? The in jail of the door is white and the scratches are black.
Well the reason why I'm worried about the scratches is because I'm living in a rental and am telling out and am trying to get all my deposit back. So I'm try to repair everything before I move out.
