Electric shock from my dishwasher?
When I went to tendency everywhere on my dishwasher just now my finger touched the metal on the front of it as I was turning the crummy dial. It gave me a slight shock. At first didn't credence in I felt what I felt so I placed my fingers fully on the metal and it sent a stronger throw for a loop right up my arm and caused tingling for several minutes. Any idea what would induce this?
My dishwasher is approximately 10 years old and is a Maytag DWU7400BBX. It's installed under the disc, beside the sink in my 30 year old apartment, by an appliance tech 4 years ago. Nothing like this has happened before and I wasn't moving anything else at the time (except feet on the floor), nor were my hands wet.
I have noticed in the late couple of months that when I turn it on the water doesn't always spread into it though. I sometimes have to turn the dial right to off and then start it again.
Could it be the dishwasher or the wiring? How can I find out?
You have two problems here.
First your dishwasher has somehow got a hurriedly circuit in it. It needs to be repaired or replaced. If it's 10 years old then I would ponder replacing it.
Second when the dishwasher was installed it was not properly grounded.
